Elif Uras’s Pregnant Haliç II, which became part of the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2016, is currently on view through 10 January 2027 as part of the exhibition Costume Art. Bringing together garments from The Costume Institute with works from the Museum’s other collecting areas, the exhibition presents a broad spectrum of connections and experiences between fashion and art – from the formal to the conceptual, the aesthetic to the political, and the individual to the universal. Reflecting their pervasiveness and endurance across different times and cultures, these pairings are organised around thematic representations of the body.
