Founded in Istanbul in 2001, Galerist is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to fostering long-term artistic practices through exhibitions, research, publishing, and sustained collaborations. The gallery has consistently championed gender equity while bringing together artists working across generations, geographies and media. Its programme encompasses emerging and established practices, as well as artist estates, reflecting a commitment to both contemporary production and the relevance of artistic legacies.

Over the past twenty-five years, Galerist has organised more than 200 exhibitions and represented nearly fifty artists from Turkey and abroad. Through both solo presentations and thematic group exhibitions, the gallery cultivates dialogue between local and international artistic practices while encouraging exchanges across disciplines, generations and cultural contexts. Beyond its exhibition programme, Galerist regularly participates in leading international art fairs, including The Armory Show, Frieze, Paris Photo and Art Basel. 

Since 2011, Galerist has been based in Passage Petits-Champs, a nineteenth-century landmark in Istanbul's historic Pera district. Alongside its year-round exhibition programme, the gallery develops collaborative which expand beyond its exhibition space, in partnership with museums, institutions, and fellow galleries. 

Publishing has remained an integral part of Galerist's practice since its founding. Through Galerist Publications, the gallery has produced numerous monographs and exhibition catalogues, including Distilled from Scattered Blue (2025), Yusuf Sevinçli: Tumult (2024), Elif Uras Monograph (2018), Yusuf Sevinçli: Oculus (2018), Semiha Berksoy Catalogue Raisonné (2017), Nil Yalter Monograph (2013), Taner Ceylan: 1997–2009 (2011), Haluk Akakçe: Reincarnation (2009) and Leyla Gediz Monograph (2008). Galerist founded Art Unlimited (formerly Galerist) magazine in 2006 to contribute to the growing discourse surrounding contemporary art in Turkey. Since 2015, the publication has continued independently as Unlimited Publications, remaining one of the country's leading arts and culture platforms.
