The sister painting to “When I Close My Eyes.” Created from a second drawing made after a hamam bath ritual. The painting is an altar to oneself having made it through the cistern’s Temenos passages. The pearl is the wanderer through the exhibition, suspended safely by an abstract maternal shell figure rising from a watery pool. The lotus in full bloom, altar lit by gentle fire from snail shell candle flame. This painting is primed with turmeric from the Istanbul bazaar and lined with lotus oil.
