Nazım Ünal Yılmaz's new publication is out! Brushman offers the most comprehensive overview of the artist’s practice to date. Bringing together a selection of works and exhibitions realised between 2021 and 2025, the book traces the development of a distinctive painterly language that unfolds across painting, drawing, and installation.

Anchored by the exhibitions Always Forward (Galerist, 2022), Ball on the Nose (PSM Galerie, 2023), and Horseless Horseman (Galerist, 2025), the publication expands beyond exhibition documentation to examine the recurring figures, motifs, and narrative structures that define Yılmaz’s work. Oscillating between figuration and abstraction, humour and unease, intimacy and allegory, his paintings construct open-ended visual worlds in which personal and collective imaginaries intersect.

New essays by Evrim Altuğ, Onur Çimen, Alexander Koch, Alper Turan, and Nilüfer Şaşmazer approach the work from multiple critical perspectives, situating Yılmaz’s practice within broader discourses on contemporary painting and image-making. Edited by Ecem Ümitli, designed by Amir Jamshidi, and published by VfmK Verlag für moderne Kunst, Brushman is conceived as a critical reader on the compelling painterly practice of the artist.
