GROUP EXHIBITION | Turandot: To the Daughters of the East, Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti, Venice, Italy

Hera Büyüktaşcıyan

Hera Büyüktaşcıyan’s film The Dream of a Falling Star is on view as part of Turandot: To the Daughters of the East, realised by Parasol Unit at Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti as a collateral exhibition to the 61st La Biennale di Venezia. With this exhibition, Parasol Unit relaunches its acclaimed international exhibitions programme through a presentation bringing together works by eleven significant female artists from Central Asia and the wider regions of the East.

Turandot is certainly one of the most complex and enigmatic figures in world mythology, literature, and opera. Her story traverses centuries, languages, and artistic forms, all the while reflecting ongoing cross-cultural hybridity and reinterpretation.

Curated by Ziba Ardalan, Turandot: To the Daughters of the East pays homage to women artists from these geographical regions, whose individual and collective histories and works reveal their strength, convictions, and creativity. Together, they honour the voice of Turandot.
