QUINN, from ’s PROFILE series, initiated in 2015, is a hyperrealistic portrait without a fixed subject. Built from layers of coloured, reflective and opaque films on tempered glass, it becomes a painting without paint—a profile brought into existence as an event, appearing for a moment before becoming something else. Made of labels, projections and desire, the portrait is completed when the viewer enters its reflective surface, turning the subject into spectator and the spectator into subject. What appears to be a portrait is therefore a temporary identity, already destined to be replaced—the self as an image, a surface, a product in constant update.
