Primordial

“The Liquid Tables” series are made by milling huge blocks of aluminium - made possible by data transfer - where no information is lost in translation from the conceptual basis to the physical existence. Each piece represents a rigorous exploration of the properties of his materials both in their solid and liquid states. “Long Liquid Bench” made from hand-polished milled aluminium and “Liquid Carbon Bench” made from carbon fibre are two powerful forms made truly graceful by the sophisticated handling of the materials. The Liquid Tables’ legs seem to have been stretched out of the metal leaving a liquid void in each table’s surface: Liquid Table Trilobal, Liquid Table Bioform and Liquid Table Megabioform. The Gingko Carbon Table speaks directly to Lovegrove’s fascination with living structures created by nature. The table is made by an aerospace company currently fabricating part of the wings for the new Airbus A380. The material has been drawn down from the inlets of three-part Gingko leaf shape to form the stems of the table representing the beautiful and poetic rendering of this symbolic shape made into a functional piece.
