‘The Last Day of Spring’ is one of three sculptures exhibited as part of Ayça Telgeren’s 2020 solo show titled ‘Under My Skin’ at
Galerist. The exhibition explored themes of touch, the memory of tactile encounters, pleasure, and duality.

The sculpture depicts two intertwined bodies merging into a single entity. In ‘The Last Day of Spring’, the duality at the points
of contact conveys an internal tension born out of multiplicity, which lies at the core of this artwork. This moment of touch, as
in real life, represents a collision that converges and intensifies within a single space. Skin carries the history of touch,
remembering these moments of intense contact, even as absence begins with the end of touch. The work embodies the final
embrace of bodies which are about to part.

The sculpture is cast in concrete, which the artist describes as the medium closest to the human body. Concrete is our home,
our streets, our city – a skin enveloping humanity. This sense of strange warmth arising from familiarity with the medium
greatly influenced the artist’s choice.
